Community Center

Pioneer Columbus and Four Mile Community Centers have been great partners for many years. Both locations serve as venues for Camp Fire USA programming during the summer and school year.

 

Day Camp

Where and When

Families choose between Pioneer Columbus Community Center and Four Mile Community Center as their drop off and pick up location.

Pioneer Columbus Community Center- 2100 SE 5th. in Des Moines

  • Drop off between 7am-9am and pick up between 4pm-6pm.

Four Mile Community Center- 3711 Easton Blvd. in Des Moines

  • Drop off between 7am-8:30am and pick up between 4pm-6pm. **Kids who are dropped off at Four Mile leave at 8:30am to join the other half of their Camp at Pioneer Columbus for the day and then return to Four Mile at 4pm.  

Pioneer Columbus Community Center serves as the "base camp" for this Camp Fire Day Camp.

Families are encouraged to sign up for all the weeks they plan to attend before summer starts as weeks will fill to capacity.

Payment

  • $135/week (regular price)
  • If you receive reduced price lunches through your school district, the cost per child is $65/week.
  • If you receive free lunches through your school district, the cost per child is $35/week.

If you attend 9 weeks of Pioneer Columbus Day Camp your 10th week is FREE!!!

What We Do

Programming hours are 9am-4pm daily. During this time kids make new friends, swim on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, play games, make crafts, learn new skills, and sing songs. Every week we go on at least one field trip, may have fun at a local park, and enjoy the outdoors.

What We Eat

Lunch is provided to all participants by the Des Moines Public Schools Summer Lunch Program. Camp Fire provides a morning and afternoon snack.

School Days Off

Where and When

Pioneer Columbus Community Center- 2100 SE 5th. in Des Moines

Payment

  • $35/day (regular price)
  • If you receive reduced price lunches through your school district, the cost per child is $15/day.
  • If you receive free lunches through your school district, the cost per child is $10/day. 

What We Do

Did MLK Day sneak up on you? Forgot to make plans for no school during conferences? Wondering what to do all winter or spring break? Sign your kids up for School Days Off with Camp Fire USA! At 8am we leave Pioneer Columbus and head north to Camp Hantesa in Boone. We will spend the day at Camp Hantesa enjoying lots of time outdoors, crafts, playing GaGa, making friends, and learning new things!

What We Eat

A hot lunch, morning and afternoon are provided.

What We Do

Club activities focus on encouraging participants to learn about themselves, the environment, expanding their creativity, serving their families and communities, and exploring their futures.

To sign up, please feel free to attend a weekly meeting! The Club Leader will assist you in registering at that time.
